From Long Shot to Victor
When first-time candidate Lisa Borders ran for Atlanta City Council President in
a special election, she put her business and civic experience up against two
veterans of citywide races. One had nearly won the Council presidency just
three years earlier. Observers doubted Borders could even gain traction, much
less win. Our polling identified issues and target groups that defied expert
opinion. We developed her overall strategy and implementation plan, providing
strategic guidance throughout the race. Borders led the field on election
night, then triumphed in a hard-fought runoff with 52% of the vote. Just a year
later she easily won a full term.

"Our hospital client needed to know why local patients were leaving the area to
receive surgical services. The Schapiro Group conducted a poll that gave
us clear, specific answers. Later, when called upon to defend the poll results
in court, Dr. Schapiro made a strong, unflappable witness. I highly recommend
her and her firm."
Melissa Bradshaw, Tobacco Prevention Specialist
Laurens County Health Department
"The Schapiro Group was the essential element in providing our community
with data related to youth smoking, smoking in the workplace, and government
restrictions on tobacco use. The results that we received from the public
opinion poll completed in Laurens County are being used to shift our community
into a healthy utopia. I look forward to working with them on future projects!"
Evonne Yancey, Government Relations Manager
Kaiser Permanente
"The Schapiro Group organized and conducted several focus groups that
provided very helpful insights into consumer awareness of recently passed
health care legislation. They are extremely qualified professionals who believe
in thoroughly understanding what the client needs and conducting the research
to provide answers to the client's questions."

Former Atlanta City Council President and Council
Member
"I've worked with Beth on a variety of polling projects - both national and
local. She was a logical choice to assist me with my campaigns for Atlanta City
Council and then the Council Presidency. Her extensive political experience and
contacts and deadly accurate polling were key to my victories. And, best of
all, when I was up late worrying over details, she was always available with
great strategic advice! I felt lucky to have her as a part of my team."
